QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
SACRAMENTO GETS HOT. DO YOU STILL TAKE DOGS OUT FOR WALKS WHEN IT IS HOT?
At Happy Hounds with Hilary, your pet’s safety comes first—especially in hot weather. When temperatures reach 85°F or higher, we adjust walks and drop-in visits based on your pet’s needs.
-
Dogs will be taken on a short walk or potty break, followed by indoor play or skill-based activities.
-
We follow the pavement test—if we can’t comfortably stand on it barefoot, neither should your pet.
-
We closely monitor for signs of heat stress (excessive panting, lethargy, or discomfort). If your pet shows any signs of overheating, we will return home immediately and follow a cool-down protocol to ensure their well-being.
Your pet’s comfort and safety are always paramount! Let us know if you have any specific concerns or requests regarding their care in hot weather.
MY DOG HAS SOME SPECIAL NEEDS. CAN YOU ADMINISTER MEDICATION?
We understand that every pet has unique needs. Whether your pet requires medication, has food allergies, sensitivities to certain sounds or behaviors, or feels anxious around other animals or people, we are committed to providing the best possible care tailored to their individual needs. A copy of the instructions from your vet is preferable.
-
Please inform us of any medications, allergies, or special accommodations your pet requires.
-
We will carefully follow all medication administration instructions to ensure your pet's health and safety.
-
If your pet has behavioral sensitivities or anxieties, we will adjust our care approach to keep them as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
Your pet’s well-being is our top priority, and we are happy to accommodate their specific needs. Please communicate any necessary details so we can provide the best experience for them!
HOW MANY DOGS CAN YOU WALK AT ONCE?
We believe every dog deserves personalized care and attention. That’s why we only walk dogs (or occasionally other pets!) from the same household at a time.
-
This ensures each dog receives individualized attention tailored to their needs, energy levels, and walking style.
-
It allows us to focus on safety, training reinforcement, and an enjoyable experience without distractions from unfamiliar dogs.
-
Your pet gets quality time and a stress-free walk, making every outing both meaningful and enriching.
By prioritizing your pet’s comfort and well-being, we create a safe, positive, and enjoyable walking experience just for them!
